D5 Alternator/charge warning

Want to display the usual charge warning on a D5 and I've bugged Syvecs Tech Support too much already on a Sunday
For it to work would mean the D5 inputs would need to be 12V tolerant, and then it should work with a direct connection to the charging/warning light terminal of the alternator.
Has anyone done this?

Is there a dedicated lamp on the dash for charge ?
Bulb, LED, other ?

There's a battery symbol on the D5 that can be driven by one of the inputs, yes.

But not a typical "load" that would be used to start charging ?
Or maybe there is an internal load for that function to work ?

Not sure if we're talking cross purposes or - more likely! - I'm being stoopid
The car has a small alternator with a two pin connector on it (plus the main voltage output terminal of course).
The exciter pin will be wired to a switched live as usual, and then there's the "I'm generating" pin that usually gets connected to a bulb wired to _12V. SO when not charging the pin is ground and the light is on; when charging it goes to +12V and the light goes out.
It is this "I'm charging" pin I want to connect to the D5 dash.
I am not using the right terminology without doubt, but hopefully you see what I mean?

I think we're on the same page.
But that's what I'm asking.
Does the D5 have a dedicated input for an alternator light ? ie internally this may have a load across it to replace the bulb normally used.
Or what does the D5 actually want to activate this charge warning light ? What makes it illuminate on the dash when you test it ?
ground, 5v, 12v, other ?
The Hayabusa clocks on my car just has an LED, which on it's own probably wouldnt work, so somewhere deep inside there must be something else to allow it to work.
Although mine is just a 1 wire..( also ignoring the big wire )

The car isn't wired yet - I'll have a play once it is and see what will work. I'm not finding the D5 config software especially intuitive so it's difficult to answer you question really so I'll have to play around some more.
And/or will badger Ryan again tomorrow

I Dont see anything in the user manual that would suggest there is such a feature as far as inputs go
Would the charge warning feature simply be taken from voltage that powers the unit ?

OK - looks like once the parameter is received by the D5, either via a switch input, analogue input, S8 datastream etc,. I can simply add it to a gauge screen and choose a battery icon.
Since I don't know if the D5 inputs are 12V tolerant but I'm told the PDU inputs are, I will take the alternator "I'm working" line in to the PDU and feed it to the dash via CAN.
