do you need to turn on air con function and map for air con on when fitting the syvecs in a 2006 sti or is it an automatic function when i orig had it fitted by jgm i had taken aircon out but have refitted it with my new 2.35 build..tks

Standard loom adapter/wiring will take the aircon on/off switch in to the ECU, and then there is an output to actually control the aircon. The demand from the on/off switch is overridden by calibrated rpm and throttle positions, so you cen make sure it shuts don on WOT etc.

So, in short, my understanding is that yes you will, unless you rewire it.
