trouble going from FW 1.74 --> 1.79

Ran in to an issue today going from FW 1.74 --> 1.79 on the S6plus.

Seems related to 'sync out'the error I get once at level 1.79 is:

SYNCOUT : unknown pin : 65535
*** Boot code assuming control ***

Not had this issue previously between firmwares - and I see from the FW notes that there are some sync out changes:

-9..12 cylinders allowed but for fuelling only (ign, knock, sync out ignored)
&
-Sync Out Output - Internal Use only

...not a show stopper insofar as I can (and have) roll back to 1.74 - but I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has any ideas on this.

I guess this is happening after you loaded your CAL after flashing?

Nothing undefined in the IO config?

Yep - converted my cal to 1.79, flashed FW to 1.79 - loaded from disk - all apparently successful - however checking further in 1.79 I have

Outputs : Sync Out as UNDEFINED - which I guess is the issue - thing is its not there at all (at least not that I can see) in v1.79 and my only choices are NOT CONNECTED (I'm guessing this is the only valid choice) or IGN 1 thu 6.

I've not had a chance to go back and test with Sync Out defined as NOT CONNECTED yet - but will do - any idea what is actually is?

That would be the error, yes. None of your I/O must be UNDEFINED. Change all UNDEFINED items to NOT CONNECTED, if not in use.

No, I am intrigued as to what it does, but don't know either. It might output sync status or simply pulse once per engine cycle, once synced up.

If it says internal use only, it's maybe something to do with comms between the expander and ecu on the plus ?

Either way, work through and ensure I/O's are all good and proper.

software is generic though for all models, and you can still pair outputs to more than one cylinder, eg batch fire etc
