Pinout Troubles

Post by scott »

I'm having a bit of trouble with the pinout info spreadsheet and I'm wondering if someone could give me a clue here. I'll give a brief example so that it can be easy to point out where I'm getting mixed up...

Pin 1 on my Syvecs is Injector 1.
Pin 24 on my Syvecs is Injector 2.

In SCAL I go down to Pin Assignments and scroll down to Cylinder 01 Primary Injector

This shows as FUEL 01 : CTL-002

Cylinder 02 Primary Injector shows as Fuel 02 : CTL-004

How does any of this relate to the actual pin outs on the syvecs harness? I'm using a couple of the spare inputs for sensors. I've used the guide to find spare inputs (physically) but I have no idea how to assign them via the firmware as nothing relates to the pins I've used, as far as I can see.

Thanks
scott

On the wiring pinout guide the left hand side shows the name of the input/output. In my above example I used " FUEL 01 : CTL-002". In the wiring guide Fuel 01 is INJ1. INJ1 is pin 1.

Similarly on the syvecs IGN01 is CTL-018. On the wiring guide, if I look up IGN1 on the left hand side I find that it is pin 26.

When I first wrote the question I hadn't noticed the correlation between the left hand column of the guide and the naming convention of the inputs and outputs in SCal.

HTH :)

it can get confusing !!

But as you tell the ecu the firing order in Engine Configuration

Then you tell the ecu what output is connected to what cylinder...stop thinking about it after that as it only confuses you lol

then the more you think, the more confused you get before realising it was easy lol

i think you have an s6GP so you relate to this pinout, http://www.syvecs.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=401

in my case i have a plug and play for impreza my99/00 which pin out is here http://www.syvecs.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=137

---------------------------------------BEGIN PINOUT

Below is the I/O Schedule for the Subaru MY99-00 S6PnP Carrier Board :

Model Years 1999 & 2000

Three connectors, all with the following layout (using CODE layout to show gaps)

Code: Select all

    09 08 07 06 05 04 03 02 01
    18 17 16 15 14 13 12 11 10
    25 24 23 22 21 20 19
    32 31 30 29 18 27 16

Chassis side has Black (A), Gray (B) and Blue (C) plugs. Plugs
are arranged Black, Gray, Blue from left to right
looking at the ECU.

INJ1 Fuel Injector 1 (A31)
INJ2 Fuel Injector 2 (A32)
INJ3 Fuel Injector 3 (A25)
INJ4 Fuel Injector 4 (A18)
INJ5 IC Auto Wash (A10)
INJ6 Warning Lamp (A28)
INJ7 A/C Clutch / Rad Fan Relay 2 (A22/A13)
INJ8 __UEGO_HEATER

AUX1 Wastegate (A19)
AUX2 Tacho (B14)
AUX3 Rad Fan Relay 1 (A4)
AUX4 Fuel Pump Relay (A1/A21)
AUX5 Idle Stepper 1 [Linear Idle] (A14)
AUX6 Idle Stepper 2 [AVCS/Warning Lamp] (A5)
AUX7 Idle Stepper 3 [AVCS/AC Clutch] (A15)
AUX8 Idle Stepper 4 (A6)

IGN1 Ignition 1 (A7)
IGN2 Ignition 2 (A16)
IGN3 __TTLHDR
IGN4 __TTLHDR
IGN5 __TTLHDR
IGN6 __TTLHDR

AB1 Crank (C5)
AB2 Cam (C6)
AB3 Steering Switch (B1) [G11_AVCS/VR_SPEED]
AB4 Diag Port (C4) [G11_AVCS/VR_SPEED]
AU1 Vehicle Speed (B26)
AU2 O2 Signal (C21) [O2/ACT/G12_AVCS/HALL_SPEED]
AU3 MAF Signal (C1) [MAF/ACT/G12_AVCS]
AU4 Test Mode (B22) [ALS/LAUNCH/PIT/ACT/G12_AVCS]
AV1 Throttle (C20)
AV2 MAP (C7)
AV3 Starter Switch (B2) [CAL]
AV4 A/C Request (B11)
AR1 Coolant Temp (C28)
AR2 Air Temp (C19)
AR3 Read Memory (B13) [ALS/LAUNCH/PIT]
AR4 Neutral Switch (B29) [ALS/LAUNCH/PIT]

----------------------------------- END PINOUT

note: firs i think the description of the conector is wong it must be

Code: Select all

    09 08 07 06 05 04 03 02 01
    18 17 16 15 14 13 12 11 10
    25 24 23 22 21 20 19
    32 31 30 29 28 27 26
in original connector descriptor there is no pin number 26 and 28 and there is 16 and 18. *early i think that was because that two pins were connected to same part of the board, but it wasnt i found a subaru pinout and there si a pin number 26 and 28

------------------------------------------------

here is my problem, acording to the base map that syvecs team sent me:

in syvecs Scal--> Calibration --> IO COnfiguration --> Pin Assigments

i see for example

PARAMETER-------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------- PIN
C) Injection : Cylinder 01 Primary injector ------------------------------------- FUEL 01: CTL-002

so, first of all letter C) has noting to do with connector C in the ecu, since thre are paremeters with letter D line D) Ingnition.... and the ecu does not hace a connector D

if i read the pinout diagram, i see INJ1 Fuel Injector 1 (A31) -----------> that means its pin A31 great!!! connector A pin 31

Code: Select all

    09 08 07 06 05 04 03 02 01
    18 17 16 15 14 13 12 11 10
    25 24 23 22 21 20 19
    32(31)30 29 28 27 26
same example with ignition! up to here we go ok!

but .....

in syvecs Scal--> Calibration --> IO COnfiguration --> Pin Assigments

i see for example

PARAMETER-------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------- PIN
A) Inputs : Air Charge Temperature Sensor 1 --------------------------- AN 14 (TH) : CTL-053

i cant found any AN 14 in pinout description! :/ - i know AN 14 is also known as AR2 Analogue Resistance as descripted in http://www.syvecs.com/downloads/Pinouts ... d%20AN.pdf

i know that Air Charge Temperature Sensor is usually wired using the wires of the MAF sensor (since its a plugin ECU) so i think it must be the following

AU3 MAF Signal (C1) [MAF/ACT/G12_AVCS]

so i know its AU3 and the pin si C1, connector C pin number 1.

i dont realise wich si te relation between what i see in Scal and the pinout! here is where i became a bit confused

on the other hand there is an AR2 Air Temp (C19) in the pin out which tell me that its connector C pin 19

I THINK THIS IS THE WAY am i right?

---------------------------- so lets try to make a complete pin out

I have edited the pin numbering on Pat's behalf as the duplicate pins 16 and 18 are obviously an error.

Generally speaking, don't pay attention to the "CTL" numbers in SCal as they just confuse things. What's important is the mapping of AN01...AN16 which, as you realise, are split into 4 groups (AB, AU, AV and AR) to the vehicle pins - that mapping is model year specific and is what the tables on Pat's post show.
