Yeah I think that is exactly it. It now sounds so easy to set up unfortunately I haven't got a clue what I'm looking for to set it up.
If/when I do find what I'm looking for I'm probably going to think 'really is that all there is too it'

Thanks for the replies I did hope VBOX would already have CAN setting etc. They said they are vehicle specific and they have never analysed a Subaru Impreza to get the CAN settings so it would need to be manually configured to suit.
