I/O 10 outputs.

Post by madships »

Can the outputs on the I/O 10 expander be used to provide a PWM output? I am looking to try to drive my dash gauges with data from the ecu, and rather than squander a lot of the ECU outptus, I was hoping to use some of the spare outputs I have rom the expander box reading the can data. Is this possible?

The outputs on the X10 I/O expander will allow PWM drive, yes. Pushing non-critical stuff like dash gauges down CAN to a slave is a sensible approach, and you are quite right to reserve the outputs on the main ECU for more important stuff. If you calibrate the ECU well and setup some safeties then it won't matter if the gauges work or not (not that they should stop working, but a dodgy CAN bus is possible).

Hope this helps,

Pat.

perfect, that solves a lot of issues, and lets me get the outputs I need. just need to finalise the I/O split between the ecu and the expander, and I can finally get wiring!
