Cruise Control Overshoot / Undershoot

Post by Hugh »

We have a number of average speed cameras in my part of the world.

Best way to keep your license is to sit at the speed limit and use of cruise control.

I find that the speed overshoots then undershoots on cruise.

In SCal there is a Pedal Proportional Correction and a Pedal Target Integral gain.

I had expected there would be a Throttle position correction rather than a Pedal Position correction.

What is the best way to use Pedal Proportional Correction and Pedal Target Integral gain to hold the cruise speed steady?

Thanks

Hi Hugh!

Have you logged what the proportional correction and integral gain is doing?

If so, please attach it.

I would guess that your integral gain is too high.

S7/S8/S12

Nice update for Cruise has just been released which allows Cruise Control Speed Nudging like a OEM Car. WIll be coming for S6 later in the month as that is a different firmware tree.

Example Cal of New Cruise updates here which you can look at and even copy some of the values

Hi MiSTI,

Not logged what the ECU is doing, hadn't thought to do that, was just planning to play with the numbers till I got the cruise accurate. Now you have suggested it, I will set the parameters to log to see what it tells me.

Part of the reason for wanting to sort cruise is I would also like to try the "Vehicle Speed Tuning" option in SCal, which I assume allows you to set a particular cruise RPM that you can enable to watch different load site performance at a given RPM for on the road mapping.

We have plenty of hills where I stay, so thought that it would be interesting to see the fuel performance across various load sites if you hold the RPM value steady in the middle of the RPM range for the Map Cell.

Thanks

Thanks Ryan,

What is the PassPhrase to open the example Cal?

Cheers

Thanks Ryan,

The Cruise Control Speed Nudging upgrade looks to be a great modification, will be great for creeping up on the average speed cameras
