Using an S6 to activate Aquamist 1s Water/Meth Injection

Post by Wez »

Hey All,

I would like to use my S6 to activate my Aquamist 1s water/meth injection. I have spoken to ERL who said that I need to un-ground the centre pin of the pump connector to activate the system which only draws a few milli-amp.

Looking at my calibration I have one spare output which is labled PWM2 : CTL-12, how would I utilise this output, would it have to be via a normally closed relay contact?

That's how I'd do it.

I've used this type of relay in the past for low load switching...

Further to this, is there any way to swap Injection maps (and/or boost) while WI is active?
IE have a feedback input back from the WI system, which if active swaps to a more advanced (or higher pressure) map, then failsafes back to safer map(s) when there is no signal?
I expect it could be done by hijacking the CAL switch signal?

I was thinking about using a 5 pin mini relay from here :)

I was told earlier today that the Solaris outputs are ground not positive, if this is so then I can wire the Solaris directly to the trigger wire on the Aquamist pump without a need for a relay.

Yes they do go to ground, but don't you need to unground the WI trigger to turn it on, so you need to invert the output of the ECU?
Is that possible in the calibration? If so, what happens when the ECU is not powered up, would it default to ungorunded and start the pump?

I've just got mine to switch a relay on that in turn switches power on to the pump. Just leave the middle wire disconnected.

Ahhh yes correct, thats why ERL recommend using a normally closed relay.

I got an email from Richard at ERL where he doesnt recommend this as it gives little time for the electronics to stabilise.

The S6 Aux outputs can only pull to Gnd, If you have a spare Ign output you could use that though.

All you need to do chap is buy a Relay and wire it as follows.

Good relay for this job would be a MR25 from here
http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/V ... relays.php

Then....

30 and 86 - Wire to an ignition live

85 = Wire to the S6 Output
87 = Wire to the Water Injection triggered pin

Done!

Ah right - I don't think I've got any probs. Might re-wire it though.
