BOSCH LSU 4.9 wiring /cable size recommendation

Post by dr_jones »

Can anyone here help with this? - I need to connect a bosch LSU 4.9 to a S6Plus - looking at the pinout diagram I see there is a pin available for Rcal - I'm not sure if I should or should not connect Rcal as this is I thought generally for OEMS to install the sensors without inputting any calibration info(?) does the S6Plus take advantage of that functionality?

Secondly - I'm unsure of what AWG wire to use - I'm getting the usual random answers from google (16 to 22 AWG in fact) - any help would be much appreciated.

Ed,

All six wires from the LSU are used on the S6GPPlus :

IVBAT to Heater +
LAM1HTR to Heater -
LAM1A to Vs (UN) [Nernst voltage]
LAM1B to Ip (IP) [Ion Pump]
LAM1C to CalR (IA) [Cal Trim]
LAM1D to Vs/Ip (VM) [Virtual Ground]

The Cal resistor is used on the S6GPPlus, the circuit implementation is incomplete without it!

You can use 22AWG for the four sensor wires, and you will be fine with 20AWG on the heater wires.

Hope this helps,

Pat.

Thanks Pat!

Followup question - is it preferential to connect the heater to IVBAT from the Syvecs or add a separate relay in specifically for the task of powering wideband heaters?
