Second problem is before I wiped it the car wasn't starting

I took it out to give it a spin as it's a rally car and doesn't get used often.

I got this read out on the ecu it's a S6 on a gc8

More info needed.

What do you mean by you updated your ecu and now it's wiped ?

If you mean you updated the firmware, then yes you need to save your old map and then import it to work with the new firmware. The instructions will cover this.

Manual here

http://www.syvecs.com/downloads/Syvecs% ... 20V1.1.pdf

And you say it wont start....if the ecu has no map in it, clearly it wont start. So again...more info needed.

You do appear to be showing screenshots of a map with information on it. So again...more info needed.

Sorry matey can see it was vague

From the start

I took my Impreza for a drive down the road as I hadn't had it out in a while and I had changed the brake calipers and just bled them so just wanted to give them a run out. I put my car away in the garage and the next day it wouldn't start. First of all i thought it might be the battery as it had been a cold night and I use an odyssey race battery which seems to die fairly quickly if it's cold or not been run up. It Wasn't the battery. My car doesn't have a standard dial for a speedo as it's a rally car so no engine management lights .

I plugged my laptop in to see the problem - The pictures are of my read out on my laptop before I updated my ecu

I have updated the ecu like an idiot since I took the photo so I'm assuming it's now wiped the map.

Just wondering if there is something wrong in the photos with the ecu andmif that was causing the car not to start. If so I'll just get it remapped

Thanks again

Screenshots of part of a map tell anyone very little.

If you have the map saved from the ecu, then you can simply import this and upload it again with the new firmware installed. Again, instructions should cover this.

or you can just flash the firmware you had been using and re-load your map as it had been before with no changes.

In order to diagnose a non start...same rules apply.

Does the engine have air, fuel, spark ? ( and as you mention with race batteries...adequate power of course )

But if you have flashed new firmware and not imported or installed an appropriate map, then it has no chance of starting.

What happens when you hook the laptop up to the ecu now ?

It just doesn't sync anymore I'll have a look in the morning and see if I can get the old map up.

Yeh powers fine from the battery and I can see it fueling on my laptop etc

Sorry this is slightly vague

Curious as to why it's vague ?

Is it someone else looking at it and you are relaying info ?

Again.

You said you updated something....exactly what did you mean by this ? What process did you go through, what did you update from and to ?

If you updated firmware, and did not update/import the old map then the engine will never start. But this should also be very apparent when you attempt to go online with the ecu, as it will not be happy at all.

You are saying it will not sync, this implies there is a valid map loaded, there are no warning messages and the ecu is seeing an rpm signal...just no sync ? Or do you mean something else ?

If there is a valid map loaded ( which seems to contradict some of what you are saying ) then pull a sync scope when cranking, which may help determine why it is not syncing.

Detail is needed.

Perhaps a video of you going online with the ecu and cranking might help as details so far are all over the place. At least that might give some indication of where things are currently.
As well as upload the current map and a syncscope trace taken during cranking.
