EWG VTA - No sound

Post by secure »

Just pushing the limits of new spec c engine and I come up with weird issue.
I was trying to keep the Super16G turbo boost up to redline.(8K)
I think I came to acceptable boost curve but at this time I lost the external wastegate sound which normally vents to atmo.

I cant hear the ewg sound after 6000-6500 RPM where the vvt comes off. Moreover that creates a huge ramp on my fueling map. It goes very rich after 6500 so i needed to reduce lots of fuel there.

Wastegate final duty is around %80 at 6500 rpm so that makes me to think the turbo is not out of limit? But where is exhaust gases?

Anyway I made 413 whp and 8.98 sec / 60-130 mph by taking the revlimit back to 7000 rpm. If I try rev up to 8K I cant go below 10 seconds.

The turbo is simply too small. The w/g is closed because it's trying as much as possible to maintain boost....it just has no more boost to give lol

Wgfinalduty is %80 and I can still up the boost to 1.7 bar? It should be %100 if maxing out?
The old engine EJ20K and target boost was 1.6 bar with no problem.

It is the first time i needed a turbo speed sensor but no inputs left.
I think this turbo wont last so long. Done 100K mile already!

Maybe some exhaust is being bypassed..it's just doing it very quietly lol.

Maybe stick a cheap camera down near the screamer pipe ?

Its day and night between VTAtmo vs. VTExhaust =) No need camera
I think there is no answer other than turbo is maxing out.

I may have wrong settings with boost control thus low wgfnldty. I think Ryan suggests Wastegate control/ Phase output linerization flip for the EWG setup. Mine is set as is. I tried to flip phase output and I get abnormal results.

If boost is low with low duty and high with high duty, then settings are OK. There are many ways to plumb the system though
