LOW IMPEDANCE INJECTOR battery voltage latency

Post by T04GTR »

hello,
can we have a latency table for low impedance injectors, same as for saturation high impedance injectors?
is it also silly to ask for the ability to run staged injection using both high and low impedance injectors? (small hi imp primary, big low imp sec)?
cheers.

T04GTR,

Low impedance are not supported on the S6, therefore there is no latency table. You can of course add ballast resistors to low impedance injectors and run them that way, in which case the normal latency table will be fine. To be clear, the S6 does not have the necessary current sensing hardware on its injector outputs in order to run low impedance injectors, nor does it have the active flyback clamping needed during the hold phase. At the time, there seemed to be no good reason to increase the complexity and cost of the ECU given that there is a huge range of options available in high impedance. Indeed I can't think of any good reason to use low impedance injectors these days (other than if you already have them, of course).

Sorry if this isn't the answer you were looking or hoping for.... if you do want to run low impedance injectors without ballasts on an S6 then watch this space, there will be a way of doing it in the not too distant future, and doing it *right* :)

Hope this helps,

Pat.

There are a couple of companies that sell driver boxes to run low impedance injectors.

But as Pat says....most of the best injectors these days are high impedance anyway. Unless you're really needing massive injectors for methanol or something.

i though so. how would one get a accurate latency data with the use of a ballast resistor? (this is for a s8)
perhaps do the sequential/batch fire running modes and play with latency values till a similar afr is achieved?

Some ecu's offer a dead time test feature, where you hold the engine at a steady load, and switch between 4 stroke/2 stroke mode and adjust dead time until AFR's do not change during the switch.

Obviously you'd need to do this at varying voltages to get a full table, which adds further complication.

Not sure how easy the above would be to do on the Syvecs

some of the stuff im working with now, (2500hp 2j etc etc) running 2200cc pri 5500cc sec on methanol. (currently on a m150 "package") super hard to navigate the software if you dont use motec m1 stuff daily! ie trying to set up a extra 2 step switch to hold the rpm down while staging rather than bouncing off the 2 step with a slipper clutch pushing your foot off the floor.
