Bosch LSU 4.0/4.2/4.9 support

Post by Jasper K »

Hi gents,

It would be nice to have full Bosch LSU 4.0/4.2/4.9 support. NTK sensors will be slowly fading out I believe and it seems the Bosch sensors are technically better after having read the following comparison about them which said:

The Nernst cell is much smaller which allows for much faster response time (5ms. for Bosch instead of 50ms. for the NTK.) however due to this smaller chamber it is also easier to become polluted skewing Lambda readings which equals usually shorter lifetime of the Bosch LSU. This is most pronounced on leaded fuels or fuels with lots of contaminations.
The LSU sensor can sustain higher continuous EGTs (930~1030 degr. vs 850~950 degr. for the NTK.)
The LSU sensor lambda readings are much less affected (about a third of the NTK) by EGBP or any other form of pressure than the NTK.
The LSU sensor due to small Nernst cell is more demanding on the heater to keep the temperature as constant as possible compared to the NTK.
The LSU sensors are much more readily available and therefor much cheaper than the NTK.

The only thing I understand which imposes a problem now is the heater strategy. Are there any plans to get this done?

Cheers,

Jasper.

Hi Jasper,

We have yet to get the S6 to work properly with the LSU sensors, getting them reading reliably has proven to be very difficult.

However full LSU support will be available in the S6+ , which should be available next year
