Back up test 2nd day. Fine Wire 1347 deg C https://i.imgur.com/hCK7iRH.jpg 1.80mm 1187.2deg C (basically same as yesterday) https://i.imgur.com/WHymOPQ.jpg Series of pics at end of another endurance test showing color temp chart (back on first page/post) Little heat flow input required to get a temp...

Re: EGT probes

Here are three different specs of probes and max readings they give (same gas pressure, mixture, 5 min apart all three tests)
Keep in mind 'fine wire' did ~1360 deg C !!!

Re: EGT probes

One of my instruments turned up today, ran a quick test on its one with a new finer wire K Type probe for a sanity check. Seems ok but will do back to back against Syvecs S8 and KT8. Either way I can confirm that the temp of the flame with equipment I have is ~ 1350 deg C (dep on charge gas pressure...

Re: EGT probes

I get asked for picture of the probe and details so as below: * Inconel 600 * Motorsport 'high heat' tolerance potted strain relief (these wont break/fail at the junction where the wires are joined - unlike some) * As per video's they are accurate as can be while being durable and also allowing mult...

Re: EGT probes

That air temp is the most shocking.  Especially given it should be well within it's normal operating range, whereas the TC's are pretty much at the lower end of their range And that's quite a dangerous amount of boiling water lol. ^ As we say in Australia "no point being a soft ...

Re: EGT probes

Quick look for those who don't like video. into boiling water till ROC ~ 0 (saturated temp reading) *keep in mind higher start temp is due to Type K's actually responding to 'seeing' the steam in the first 2.5 seconds, where as the ACT does SFA by comparison* K Type (fine wire) = ~ 0.5 secon...

Re: EGT probes

The really interesting part of this test is that even my 'tough' EGT probe not only responds as quickly, reads the same accuracy as the 'fast acting air temp sensor' but its far superior when you see any transient happen. though It's obviously a much dampened version of the fine wire but it still sh...
